From Vision to Reality

The St. Angela Merici Health Centre in Lower Kabete, Nairobi, has its origins rooted in the dedication and compassion of Orsoline Sisters of the Immaculate Virgin Mary who recognized the need for accessible healthcare services in the community.

The health center’s story began in 1995 when visionary Orsoline Sisters of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, inspired by faith and a deep commitment to serving the less fortunate, felt a calling to provide medical care to the local population. The then Cardinal Otunga gave them the blessing to serve the less fortunate by providing them with access to health facility which they lacked. It began as a Dispensary in 1995 and became a Health Center in 1996.

At that time, Lower Kabete was a growing community, but access to healthcare services was limited, and people often had to travel long distances to receive medical attention.

As word spread about the compassionate care and the dedication of the nuns, the St. Angela Merici Health Centre began to receive support from the local community, as well as from organizations and individuals who shared their vision. This support allowed the clinic to grow, expand its services, and improve its facilities.

Over the years, the health center evolved into a comprehensive healthcare facility, offering a range of medical services, from primary care to specialized treatments. It became a hub for not only medical care but also health education and community outreach programs. The clinic’s growth and success are a testament to Orsoline Sisters vision and the support of the local community. Today, the St. Angela Merici Health Centre in Lower Kabete continues to stand as a symbol of hope and healing, providing accessible healthcare services and making a positive impact on the lives of the people it serves especially the poor. Despite its achievements, the clinic also faces great challenges with its infrastructure and equipment which is making it lose many patients to other health facilities in the neighboring Nairobi County.

Despite its achievements, St. Angela Merici Health Centre faces significant challenges in infrastructure and medical equipment, limiting its ability to provide optimal care. As a result, many patients seek treatment at better-equipped facilities in neighboring Nairobi County.

To bridge this gap, we are committed to upgrading our infrastructure, acquiring modern medical equipment, and enhancing service delivery. With the support of our valued donors and partners, we aim to create a fully equipped, patient-centered facility that meets the growing healthcare needs of our community.
